The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is an amazing area to visit during a safari in Botswana. It is the second largest reserve in the world and by far the most remote reserve in southern Africa. Considered to be a semi desert, the reserve is home to rhino, black-maned lion and desert-adapted elephants, among other striking game species. During the dry months, the Kalahari offers wide pan offering excellent photographic opportunities while during the wet season, the reserve becomes a haven for large herds of plains game as well as incredible sightings of the legendary black-maned lion.
